Philosophy

Terry Berland is a Casting Director committed to providing talent with the knowledge and tools it takes to succeed in the business and art of acting in television commercials.

Through knowledge and understanding, talent will learn acting techniques that can increase their callbacks and booking rates, in addition to empowering them with the confidence that comes from knowing they are truly a part of the commercial acting community.

The workshop is designed to make the actor’s goals attainable. The environment is supportive, fun, and focused on results that will immediately affect a talent’s career. The workshop is designed in a group situation combined with individual one-on-one instruction.

The Spirit Of The Workshop

The spirit of the workshop is to make a talent’s life easier. Make-up classes are flexible and each six-week round ends with an agent showcase. Talent who have agent representation are welcome to come for the informative Q and A segment of the evening.

Continuing Free Agent Showcases

At the end of each six-week cycle, a Free Agent Showcase is offered to anyone who has previously taken Terry’s workshop and is seeking agent representation.

Bio

Terry Berland is an award-winning casting director based in Los Angeles, where she casts on-camera commercial, voice-over, animation, games, hosting, theatre, film and television projects. Her casting career spans more than 25 years and has earned her casting awards that include Clio, The Houston International Film Festival, Art Director’s Club, Addy, and the International Film and Television Festival.

Terry’s education of talent started over twenty years ago and evolves with current trends. Her deep understanding of the art of acting in a television commercial is based on her formative years casting inside New York ad agencies, where she was promoted to Head of Casting at the third largest ad agency in the world, BBDO/Worldwide. She has previously been on the adjunct faculty at AMDA and the Lee Strasberg Institute/ NY.

Terry’s teaching around the country has been a leading factor in the trend of performance being real, truthful and connected. Her understanding of talent’s needs led her to write the book “Breaking Into Commercials”, which is the number one go-to book in the industry.Terry is known for casting legions of commercials throughout the years that have given countless actors work in ad campaigns including Apple, Taco Bell (voice of the Chihuahua), VW, Nike, Old Navy, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, Discover Card, Pepsi, BudTV, Comcast, Nissan, Red Bull and Burger King, to name a few.

Terry’s greatest pleasure is to support talent in their success.
